National Colorectal Cancer Awareness month is a nationwide effort to educate the public about steps that can protect against colorectal cancer and reduce the number of people who die each year from the disease. It was founded by the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation in collaboration with the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Foundation for Digestive Health and Nutrition, and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable.

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. In recognition of this, we have included a number of articles pertaining to the prevention and early detection of this malignancy that we think you will find useful. There are over 147,000 new cases and 57,000 deaths annually from this disease in the US alone. Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable of all cancers. Talk to your physician about your screening options and how you can decrease your risk of developing this disease.
