Summary - Protect Our Women from Ovarian Cancer Act of 2002. A bill to amend Title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide coverage under the Medicare program for certain tests to screen for ovarian cancer upon certification by the Director of the National Institutes of Health that such tests are effective. This measure directs the Secretary of DHHS, acting through the Director of NIH, to conduct or support research on the effectiveness of screening for ovarian cancer using new proteomics techniques, as well as the effectiveness of using this technique in conjunction with other screening techniques to identify ovarian cancer. The Secretary is required to submit a report to Congress on this research, including an evaluation of the effectiveness of these screening approaches.
